This is the kind of place that gives vegetarian cuisine a good name. Green Spot is one of the creations of Tomás Tarruella, and the brand Grupo Tragaluz whose unique restaurants have helped to revolutionize eating in Barcelona. The space itself is an elegant wooden environment by Brazilian designer Isay Weinfeld, which makes you feel at ease from the moment you stroll down the long oak-lined entry corridor. Imaginative food combines international flavors from Asia and the Mediterranean, with such healthful offerings as quesadillas of avocado and kimchi, or to-die-for combinations like sweet potato tagliatelle in a sauce of walnuts, macadamias, and black truffles. Pizzas fill out the menu for those who prefer something traditional (hold the salami please), and the food is complemented by a serious wine menu. Live music on Thursdays completes the sophisticated effect. “Veggies for veggies. Veggies for non-veggies,” says their website. Indeed.
