Chef Florence Lowell, from Bordeaux, France, runs the show at the Naked Oyster, one of the Cape’s top restaurants. Lowell has her own oyster beds in nearby Barnstable Harbor, so the sweet, salty shellfish come straight from the sea to the table, served, ideally, with the mignonette (sauce) of the day. In addition to oysters, served dressed or naked, you might want to start with the French onion soup or the oyster stew, then move on to seared diver scallops served over a roasted-shitake-mushroom risotto. Another winner is the duck confit with thyme gnocchi. A number of items on the menu are gluten-free. Desserts are extra-special here, and the wine list is unrivaled in the region. This bistro is pleasantly cozy and romantically lit, with vibrant paintings shown off the brick walls.
