Hotel El Prado
While it may not live up to its glorious 1930s heyday, the Prado is still Barranquilla’s best hotel, with an array of crowd-pleasing amenities. The beautiful neoclassical building features striking arcades with a black-and-white tiled floor and encloses a terrific pool (the main draw) surrounded by palm trees. Some of the traditional rooms are drab, and bathrooms could do with an update, but they are clean, well-equipped, and spacious. Although it’s a stretch to call El Prado luxurious, it’s a relaxing place to unwind before or after a flight with a couple of decent restaurant/bar options, a small gym, and a well-priced spa.
