Just across the Pulteney Bridge from the city center, this handsome town house has been a hotel of some sort or another since way back in 1794. Its walls still echo with history, though the decor is modern. Special praise must be given to the hosts who not only put out a terrific breakfast, but seem to genuinely enjoy introducing guests to Bath and making them feel welcome. They'll lend you an umbrella and boots when the weather is nasty, and will cheerfully prepare a dawn breakfast if your travels are going to take you far from the B&B. A truly special place.
