Contact Tourist-Information, Opernstrasse 22 (tel. 0921/88588; www.tourismus.bayreuth.de), Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm. From May to October, it is also open Sunday 10am to 2pm.
Getting Around
Many streets within the historic core of Bayreuth are exclusively reserved for pedestrians, and that, coupled with the city's small size, makes walking between points of interest both easy and efficient. Whereas the centerpiece of the old town is Marktplatz, the geographical landmark of the new town is the Hauptbahnhof. Buses no. 301 through 312 crisscross the town, and of those, about half follow a route that moves between those two points. If in doubt, ask someone at the tourist office or waiting at a bus stop. One-way bus fares for points within the town and its outskirts cost 1.60€.
