When Tara Lodge opened a dozen years ago, it was part of a wave of modern, inexpensive, boutique-style hotels in Belfast, a city where good budget accommodations were scarce. It has more competition these days, but Tara Lodge still manages to get everything just about right. The simple, contemporary guest rooms are perhaps a little small, but the beds are large and comfortable. Breakfasts are very good and offer plenty of choice. The Botanic Gardens and Ulster Museum are about 10 minutes away on foot; it’s a short cab ride to the city center. The hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, but plenty of good eateries are within easy reach. Tara Lodge sometimes offers excellent package deals, including bed, breakfast and a Game of Thrones locations tour for just £72 per person.
