Belize Zoo Jungle Lodge

Part of, and adjacent to the Belize Zoo, this unique lodge is set on 34 hectares (84 acres) of untouched savannah.  It boasts a nature trail, an observation platform, a classroom, and a range of guest rooms including four cabanas and a 30-person dorm, where international wildlife hero Steve Irwin once stayed. All are woodsy, pleasant and far from luxurious, which seems appropriate—you’re not here for the pampering, but for the nature experience. Camping-inclined travelers can pitch a tent here for BZ$16, too. Folks who stay here can take a nocturnal tour of the zoo for BZ$200 for 1-4 people.
