Here’s your chance to line up with the locals and eat like a real Berliner—wolfing down the city’s most famous street food: currywurst, from a street stand. You can’t say you’ve been to Berlin until you’ve tried one of these bratwurst sausages covered with a spicy sauce, sprinkled with curry powder, and traditionally served with pommes frite, cabbage salad, or a Brötchen (white roll). You’ll see currywurst stands all over Berlin, but the most famous one is Curry 36 in Kreuzberg. After you’ve tried one, you can say, as JFK did, “Ich bin ein Berliner.” Other fast-food snacks are available, too, but why bother?
