One of the prettiest buildings in the restored Nikolaiviertel (Nicholas Quarter), just south ofAlexanderplatz, is the Ephraim-Palais, a richly ornamented 1765 mansion. Part of the building is a museum, while another section contains this Italian-influenced restaurant, which sits right next to the Spree River. You’ll want a table outside if the weather is fine. And you’ll probably want to order fish, because that’s what this place does best. Choices include salmon with white-wine sauce; grilled trout; swordfish with fresh tomatoes, onions, and basil; and grilled or baked crayfish. Pasta is made fresh daily, and the pizzas are good, too. The restaurant also has a well-stocked wine cellar.
