In spite of its outdated décor and tired salmon-colored buildings desperately in need of a paint job, Coco Reef Resort does have one thing going for it. Its location, on a gorgeous expanse of Elbow Beach, might be enough to make you forget the hotel’s shortcomings. Many of its rooms look right at it—a pink sand paradise flanked by the turquoise Atlantic—and that’s clearly were you’ll want to keep your gaze, as those same rooms also feature tacky white wicker furniture and gaudy aqua and pink flowered curtains, pillows, and duvets. There’s a restaurant on site serving “international cuisine” (it too is in need of a facelift), but fortunately a quick walk down the beach is Mickey’s Bistro, Lido, and Sea Breeze, a trio of excellent restaurant choices housed at nearby Elbow Beach Hotel.
