Once a favorite of former Bermuda residents Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones (before their move back to New York City and their on-again, off-again split), Barracuda Grill is the most upscale of the Island Restaurant Group’s quintuplet of Bermuda dining establishments—it’s upstairs from IRG’s Hog Penny Pub—and, it should be said, the one with the most well-executed food. Featuring a dedicated menu of seafood and chops rather than the “everything but the kitchen sink” tactic that many island restaurants employ, Barracuda is popular with power-lunching locals and visitors out for a special night. At dinner, try the grilled Bermuda rockfish with gingered sweet potato gnocchi, boy choy kim chee, and char-grilled mushrooms, or the Nimon Ranch bone-in rib eye with duck fat hackleback potatoes and haricots verts. But whatever you do, don’t miss the gingerbread toffee pudding with medjool date sauce and ginger ice cream.
