Fresh seafood is the order of the day here, and shrimp and lobster are featured prominently on every menu. I recommend taking advantage of the relatively cheap prices and trying something more unusual like yellowfin or snapper cooked with vegetables and coconut curry. While in town, you should also try coco bread, a popular puffed loaf of bread, as well as hot coconut buns. Most formal restaurants in town open for lunch and close at 10pm daily.

Manglares Restaurant, in the Hotel Bluefields Bay (tel. 505/2572-0107), has the best seaside dining in the area, along with a nice location on a dock over the bay. Main courses start at C190. La Loma Rancho (tel. 505/572-2875) is set on a hill overlooking the town and has a pleasant open-air dining area. Main courses start at C190. If you like your meals formal and elegant, go to Chez Marcel (tel. 505/2572-2347), where they do exquisite lunches and dinners. Main courses start at C260.

The restaurant within the Hotel South Atlantic II (tel. 505/2572-1022) serves excellent seafood and meat dishes that won't bust your budget. Main courses start at C130. Another good hotel restaurant within the same price range is the Mini-Hotel Central (tel. 505/2572-2362).
