Do you hear that buzz? The Godfrey opened in early 2016 and was immediately christened one of the coolest new urban hotels in the country by Travel + Leisure. Visitors and other press began heaping similar accolades on the facility, terming it “refined simplicity” and raving about Ruka (declared one of the city’s “sexiest new restaurants” by Zagat), its bar (bartender Will Thompson was named best in the city by Boston Magazine) and its cafe (run by famed Boston coffee master George Howell). Its Downtown Crossing location is busy during the day with office workers and nearby mid-priced shopping, and quiet at night save for the nearby Boston Opera House, Paramount Center, and other hotels. A neat amenity: The hotel will find guests a “running mate” for a 6:30am run.
