Across the street from the Berklee College of Music, Bangkok City draws a substantial number of students with excellent food at a good price. It’s a fine choice for the usual suspects, like satays, fried rice, and pad Thai, but I prefer the option of picking a protein and a curry sauce, served with plenty of veggies and rice. Servers are unobtrusive, but helpful if you ask for advice. Shades separate the large dining room from the busy street, and gold accents and elephant statues add to the hideaway feel. You can’t have the umbrella drink that would complete the illusion, but beer goes perfectly with this food.
