Chose to list this branch of the family-owned chain because I enjoy the idea of eating fish while looking at an aquarium, but you can’t go wrong at any Legal Sea Foods location in the Boston area. From the simplest broiled filet to the celebrated clam chowder to the fanciest shellfish concoction, everything here is ultra-fresh, made from top-quality ingredients, and prepared with care. Ask your well-versed server for advice if you can’t decide, or just order a big lobster. The wine list and dessert menu are also terrific. The flagship location, Legal Harborside, is a three-level space at 270 Northern Ave. in the Seaport District (tel 617/477-2900)—it’s a hassle to get to, but it’s the only branch with a water view.
