A highlight of the Fenway’s booming restaurant scene, Sweet Cheeks opened in 2011, eclipsing every other Boston-area barbecue joint. The brainchild of chef-owner Tiffani Faison (of “Top Chef” fame), it serves all-natural pork, beef, and poultry, sourced locally when possible, prepared Texas-style in a 2-ton smoker. “Trays” of meats hold a single generous serving alongside two side dishes, with plenty of napkins. Although the main courses—ribs, pulled pork, brisket, fried chicken—are scrumptious, the best item on the menu is the buttermilk biscuits. Wash it all down with a craft cocktail, served in a Mason jar, or a domestic microbrew. Sit on the patio if you can; this might be the noisiest restaurant in Boston, which is saying something.
