Founded in 1897, the oldest nonprofit craft organization in the country is on a mission. Its gallery and retail shop could be in a less prominent—and cheaper—location, but that’s the point: Craft artists are artists, and their wonderful work belongs on prestigious Newbury Street. Open Monday by appointment only. The society also sponsors CraftBoston, an internationally renowned juried show that takes place in the spring and before the holidays; check the website for dates and locations.
