Planning a trip to Braga

Arriving

By Train -- The train station is on Largo da Estação (tel. 25/327-85-52 or 808/208-208). Some 20 trains per day arrive from Porto after a 1 1/2-hour trip. It costs 13€ one-way. From Coimbra, 15 trains a day make the 4-hour trip. A one-way ticket costs 19€.

By Bus -- The bus station is at Central de Camionagem (tel. 25/320-94-00), a few blocks north of the heart of town. Buses arrive every hour from Porto; the trip takes 1 1/2 hours and costs 5.70€ one-way. From Guimarães, there is one bus daily; the trip takes an hour and costs 5.70€. From Lisbon, eleven daily buses make the 5 1/2-hour trip. The fare is 18€ one-way.

By Car -- From Guimarães, head northwest along N101.

The Braga Tourist Office is at Av. da Liberdade 1 (tel. 25/326-25-50; www.cm-braga.pt). It's open October to June Monday to Friday 9am to 12:30pm and 2 to 6:30pm, Saturday and Sunday until 5:30pm; July to September Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am to 12:30pm and 2 to 5:30pm.
