Just off I-10 on La. 31, this pretty, little town, founded in 1859, prides itself on being the Crawfish Capital of the World. Its Crawfish Festival and Fair, held the first week in May, has drawn as many as 100,000 to the town of 4,500 for music, crawfish races, and crawfish-eating contests. Little antiques shops of varying price and charm line the main drag (we notice they tend to close early on Tues afternoons). The standout is Lucullus (107 N. Main St.; tel. 337/332-2625), a branch of the terrific New Orleans culinary- and dining-oriented shop.
