Candleberry Inn
What a showpiece: This grand 1790 Georgian-style structure with its square-rigger design (two chimneys) is among the most regal sea captains’ homes in town; it was once owned by the 19th-century author Horatio Alger. There are six rooms in the main house, all graciously decorated with antiques and heirlooms, and Oriental rugs over wide-pine floors. The two rooms in the Carriage House are more modern in style and afford a little extra privacy. Four rooms have working fireplaces. Another big plus for this property are its innkeepers, Stu and Charlotte Fyfe, real Cape Codders who can fill you in on what’s where while providing some historical context.
