In a sweet little country gift shop, the Hopkins House Bakery, at 2727 Main St. in Brewster (tel. 508/896-3450) sells standout hermit cookies (molasses, raisins, and nuts), as well as excellent breads and muffins. Its hours are limited, however: in July and August it’s open only Thursdays through Sundays, 8am to 4pm, and in June and September it’s weekends only.
Where Your Local Barista Knows Your Name
Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters, 2624 Main St. in Brewster (www.socoffee.co; tel. 774/323-0605), is an artsy gathering place in a repurposed barn. This friendly coffee house hosts open mic nights and a Sunday morning local music series from 11am to 1pm. Hours are Mondays to Fridays 6:30am to 5pm; Saturdays and Sundays 7:30am to 4pm. They also have a second location at 483 Main St. in Chatham.
