Built in 1940, the Grande Hotel is a prime example of Portugal's take on the Art Deco style. Its lemon-yellow exterior makes a pretty counterpoint with the glistening blue of its Olympic-sized outdoor pool, the green forest surrounds and purple bougainvillea in the gardens. There's also an indoor pool and a private tunnel means guests have an easy stroll to the next door thermal center. While the lobby maintains a vintage air with its flowing deco curves, the rooms have been modernized and decorated in a familiar beige-and-dove-grey contemporary style.
