An alternative to all the grand old hotels,  this boutique, family-run establishment opened in 2012 in a converted 19th-farmhouse. It's 5km (3 miles) from Buçaco. There are six spacious rooms located in the pastel yellow main building and a modern extension. Simple decor makes the most of the house's original wood floors, ceilings and other features. There's a shaded porch looking out over the gardens and pool. The cozy lounge decorated with family artifacts around an old-fashioned fireplace is a big favorite with guests.
