Located right in the middle of the famed riverside Danube Promenade (Dunakorzó), the Vigadó is one of the city's oldest concert halls, dating to 1864. It is a magnificent building from the outside and I cannot wait to see the inside after the remodel, but that wait will be longer than anticipated. The remodel was planned for completion by 2006, but like most things in Hungary, scheduled times can vary by years. As of this writing, it has not yet reopened, so we suggest you stroll by for a look at the exterior at bare minimum. It is close to the Little Princess statue, a tourist icon, so you cannot miss the theater. Chances are it will not reopen during the life of this edition.
