Founded in 1990 by the Massanez family, a French family whose primary business was in specialty liquors and spirits, Chateau Los Boldos was originally a century-old vineyard whose rocky soils, it was found, produce quality wine with extreme ripeness. Of course, the outstanding quality of their wines comes from a lot of French know-how, too. Chateau Los Boldos also elaborates spirits and a unique pear-in-a-bottle liqueur, all handmade and bottled on-site. It is possible to book a tour, or simply stop at their Boutique de Vino just off the Pan-American Highway (eastern side) at Km 112 in Rosario. Tours cost $10 (£6.70) for a tasting of two wines.
