elBulli1846
On the promontory of Cala de Montjoi a few miles south of Cadaqués stands the site of elBulli, the legendary restaurant of Roses-born Ferran Adrià, who rewrote the rules of fine dining. His impossibly ambitious project was named the world’s best restaurant on five occasions but closed in 2011.
In 2023, Adrià unveiled this museum and laboratory dedicated to the art of experimental cuisine. The 1846 refers to the number of dishes Adrià and his team created after he joined in 1984.
It's an expensive and rather self-regarding experience but dedicated fine diners will love the opportunity to revisit Adrià’s most famous dishes and metaphorically touch the hem of the master’s apron. It is open mid-April to November.
