Parador de Cádiz

A government-run parador has occupied this enviable spot between Parque Genovés and La Caleta beach since the national system launched in the 1920s. The current incarnation, opened in 2012, is an ultra-modern block. Every light-filled room has a terrace overlooking the ocean and huge beds from which you can gaze out through floor-to-ceiling glass. The beach at La Caleta is just a minute or two away, or you can lounge by the wood-decked rooftop pools. An in-house spa offers a range of beauty and wellness treatments. The only word of caution is that, with its own shops and restaurant, it feels a little remote from the street life of Cádiz—more luxury retreat than city break.
