Planning a trip to Caltanissetta

By car, the autostrada A19 has direct links from both Palermo and Catania; taking an average of 1 hour and 20 minutes from either way. There are frequent, direct trains (tel. 892021; www.trenitalia.it) from Palermo, Enna, and Catania: Five trains from Palermo take 2 1/2 hours; from Enna there are four trains that make the 40-minute journey; and from Catania the journey takes 2 hours and there are four trains a day. SAIS (tel. 800-102021; www.saisautolinee.it) runs a bus from Enna for the 50-minute trip.
