Tucked behind the Comercial Mexicana Supermarket, this cafe greets you with a fresh, peppery scent. Huge vegetarian or classic deli combination sandwiches come on your choice of baguettes or croissants. Though the wooden wainscoting and walls covered with posters and photos of Paris impart a French coffee-house feel that attracts students as well as local professionals, one of its specialties is a Muy Aleman (“Very German”) plate of cold meats and cheeses, baguette or croissant, garlic mayo, and butter and jam. The 12-inch baguette economica, with ham, salami, and cheese, is a paltry 18 pesos (about $1.40 US). The flaky cuernos (croissants), which have a devoted following, go well with the fresh coffee, espresso or cappuccino.
