The dining rooms at both Rafter Six Ranch Resort and Brewster's Kananaskis Guest Ranch are open to non-guests who make reservations. Pub dining in Canmore is also noteworthy; most pubs have pleasant garden patios. Grizzly Paw Pub (622 Main St.; tel. 403/678-9983) makes its own excellent ales and serves good food. The Rose and Crown (749 Railway Ave.; tel. 403/678-5168), overlooking the river, wins for the best deck.
