The only museum in the world dedicated to the Impressionist painter Pierre Bonnard is 3km (1.75 miles) north of Cannes, in the suburb of Le Cannet. Portraits, sculptures, and sketches on display in this petite museum date from primarily between 1922 and 1947, the period during which the artist was a local resident. Temporary exhibitions, such as a recent celebration of Bonnard’s most lively canvases showing the belle époque high life, offer unique opportunities for a peek at privately owned paintings on loan from around the globe.
