This shingle-sided beaut is one of the oldest hotels on the coast; it celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2014. But there’s nothing creaky about it in its present incarnation as a comfortable, well-designed B&B. Appealing touches abound in all the public areas: fresh flowers, a wood fire, big armchairs, and a sense of Zen-like calm. The hotel includes a few century-old cottages with river-rock fireplaces, and a newer Courtyard wing with suites and Jacuzzis; you can choose various room sizes and configurations depending on your needs. You’re not on the beach here, or looking out at the beach, but it’s minutes away, and the surrounding neighborhood has real charm. In summer, the on-site cafe serves lunch and dinner.
