Batter Up: The Boys of Summer

Nothing says summer on Cape Cod like attending a Cape Cod Baseball League game. There are 10 teams playing in two leagues. Teams are in Wareham (just over the bridge), Bourne, Falmouth, Cotuit, Hyannis, Yarmouth, Harwich, Chatham, Brewster, and Orleans. The ballparks are typically in the center of town, walking distance to Main Street, with snack bars and toilets. A couple are particularly scenic: Cotuit and Chatham. Players are college hotshots, and Major League scouts are at most games. There are four or five games almost every afternoon for the 6 summer weeks in June and July that the league plays. Admission is free, though they pass a hat for donations. For the league schedule, check out www.capecodbaseball.org.
