Situated on the lower slopes of Table Mountain, in one of Cape Town's loveliest residential neighborhoods, this is an intimate, good-value guest house offering luxurious accommodations and lots of small, delightful details. Four Rosmead occupies a superbly maintained 1903 heritage-listed house. It's been decorated in a relaxed modern manner and kitted out with enough art to turn it into a functioning gallery—the owner will happily talk you through his thoughts on contemporary South African art. He'll also advise on his favorite places to eat and point you towards some lesser-known hangouts in Cape Town, so you'll feel like you have your finger on the pulse. You'll be within walking distance of Kloof Street, where there's an endless string of shopping, dining, and socializing venues. Bedrooms are large and light-filled; the Oranjezicht and Leeuwenzicht rooms have balconies and city views. The garden "cottage" may lack in views, but it has an alfresco shower and extra privacy. For guests who prefer to stay in at night, staff are pleased to plate take-out meals.
