Arriving

By Plane -- Most visitors traveling by air will probably fly into one of the three major airports in the New York City area. Other visitors traveling by air will arrive via Albany International Airport (ALB), 737 Albany-Shaker Rd. By Car -- Most visitors tour the Catskill Mountain region by car (or motorcycle); it's certainly the most convenient way of getting around. The region begins about 90 miles, or about 2 hours, north of New York City; there is easy access via exits 16 through 21B of the New York State Thruway (I-87). From the south, Route I-81 and Route 17 (future I-86) also provide direct access. From New England, I-84 and I-90 connect with I-88, I-87, and Route 17 (future I-86).

Major car-rental companies, including Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty, have representatives at all the major airports.
