Restaurants in Caye Caulker
In addition to the places we give full listings to, if you’re hanging out by the Split, you’ll probably want to stop in at the Lazy Lizard (tel. 226-0636), a so-called “sunny place for shady people” serving cold drinks and a menu of local dishes, sandwiches, and burgers. And be sure to stop in at the Lighthouse Ice Cream Parlour on Front Street for a cone or a scoop of some fresh, homemade ice cream.
We also must recommend several simple local restaurants serving fresh fish, seafood, and Belizean standards at very economical rates. The best of these are Marin’s Restaurant & Bar (tel 226-0104), and Errolyn’s House of Fry Jacks (no phone), both located on Middle Street, near the center of town. My favorite of these local joints is Rose’s Grill & Bar (📞 226-0407), located on the side street, right next to Hibisca. Their display of the day’s catches makes for a fun, interactive dining experience.
For tasty pizzas try Southside Pizza (tel. 633-3887) an ex-pat run joint in a small building on Pasero Street.
The best cheap eats on Caye Caulker are the various outdoor grills that set up nightly all along Front Street, offering chicken, shrimp, beef, and lobster (in season) at very reasonable rates.

Glenda's
This humble establishment is one of Caye Caulker's longest-standing traditions and most popular spots. The menu is written on a chalkboard on your left as you walk up to the open window into Glenda's house. Order here, and the meal will be brought to your table, but don't sit down…$Around the island - International
Hibisca (formerly Habanero’s)
Called Habanero’s until 2018, Hibisca is a Caye Caulker classic. The food is extremely memorable and varied, from homemade pastas and Thai coconut curries, to Brazilian pork or spicy fajitas made of beef, chicken, or jerk pork. I like to start things off with the Creole Voodoo Cakes,…$$Around the island - Italian
Il Pelicano
This Italian restaurant is the place to go for ambiance in Caye Caulker. With a lush walkway, ornate wooden gate, and candlelit walkways, it feels like stepping into Italy. The menu is primarily pastas and pizzas, a fairly robust selection even when compared with Belize’s other…$$Around the island - Seafood/International
Rainbow Grill & Bar
Built over the water near the center of town, you’ll dine to the sound of water lapping against the pilings below your feet. A dozen or so wooden tables with plastic chairs are set around the screened-in restaurant. The screen comes in handy, especially when the bugs are biting. Try…$$Around Town - Belizean
Wish Willy’s
Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner out of his home’s kitchen, Belizean-by-way-of-Chicago chef Maurice Moore has built a reputation for serving excellent fare in a relaxed open-air yard.
