The only food between Þingeyri and Bíldudalur (in the southwest Westfjords) or Flókalundur (on the south coast) is at the Byggðasafnið Hrafnseyri cafe. Þingeyri is just 45 minutes from Ísafjörður, so many drivers headed north aim to reach the Westfjords capital by dinnertime. The N1 gas stations in Þingeyri and Flateyri have fast food grills to tide you over.  Þingeyri’s Simbahöllin Café (tel. 899-6659; www.simbahollin.is; Fjarðargata 5), a homey coffee house set in a 1915 grocery store with goodies like waffles with rhubarb jam and cream.
