Set in the elegant former premises of the South Carolina Loan & Trust, dating back to around 1850, this steakhouse also specializes in seafood and shellfish dishes, using regional suppliers such as Clammer Dave’s. While the steaks can’t quite compete with those at Grill 225 or Hall’s, they are a little cheaper and the menu here is more varied, with Italian flavors (house pastas), decent salads, lamb, roast chicken, and an excellent burger served with hand-cut truffle fries. The location is fabulous, with soaring 18-foot ceilings, original heart-of-pine floors, chandeliers, and local contemporary artwork on the walls.
