Best Nightlife

For an evening of theater or modern dance, head to the Théâtre de Chartres, pl. de Ravennes (www.theatredechartres.fr; tel. 02-37-23-42-79).

A wild night on the town probably isn’t in the cards in Chartres,  but the bar at the Grand Monarch is fun for wine or cocktails. Le Serpente, 2 Cloître Notre-Dame (https://leserpente.fr; tel. 02-37-21-68-81), by the cathedral, serves brasserie fare, stays open until midnight daily, and does an excellent Irish coffee (even decaffeinated).
