Planning a trip to Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Getting There -- To reach Châteauneuf-du-Pape, take one of the regular buses from Avignon, a journey of less than 30 minutes. Châteauneuf does not have a bus station; you are deposited and picked up at place de la Bascule, behind the post office. The tourist office is the best source for schedules and information about bus access.

If you're driving from Avignon, head north on A7 to the intersection with Route 17, and continue northwest following the signs into Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Visitor Information -- The Office de Tourisme is at place du Portail (tel. 04-90-83-71-08; www.ccpro.fr).

Special Events -- Since the Middle Ages, the annual Fête de la Véraison has been held in early August . The village also takes part in the Floraisons Musicales, a music festival that travels throughout Provence and will pitch up in Châteauneuf-du-Pape for several dates in June and July.
