In addition to the eateries listed in this guide, there's The Rope Loft, at 36 Water St. (tel. 902/275-3430), one of the town's chief gathering spots for locals. The kitchen serves the expected pastas, pizza, fried clams, Digby scallops, lobster, and other seafood by the water; ask for a deck chair, if you can get one. The restaurant also serves brunch on weekends. They have a kids' menu, too. It's open seasonally.

If it's baked goods you want, Julien's Pastry Shop (tel. 902/275-2324) at 43 Queen St. does them extremely well, as does the Kiwi Café.
