At this history museum, the story of the province is covered, including the founding and creation of the capital, the occupation of the Burmese, and the modern cultural awakening. The main focus of the museum’s exhibits and dioramas is the Lanna period. Visitors can also view the active archaeological dig of an ancient temple wall taking place in a downstairs gallery. While not Chiang Mai’s top museum, history buffs will enjoy the visit, which can be accomplished in an hour or less. The museum is set right behind the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center.
