As I made my way up the narrow, feminine, art-lined hallway of the Ivy, I wondered, briefly, if I’d just entered a spa. The narrowness continues to the top of this tiny boutique hotel, which has 14 floors and only 63 rooms, 52 of which are suites. The 11 king rooms are quite large and have a lovely design, with hardwood floors, artsy purple striped rugs, and a sizable washroom. Suites measure in at two rooms and 675 square feet, and the bathrooms have deep soaking tubs. Located on a quiet, tree-lined street, just a block and a half off Michigan Avenue and a couple of blocks from the lake, this might be the best-kept secret in town. Strike that—the hotel staff says that it’s actually quite popular with the business set, but I’d highly recommend it for a girls’ getaway.
