Don’t judge this restaurant, which is attached to the Hard Rock Hotel, by the sports bar in front, which you’ll see from the windows on Michigan Ave. Behind the bar is a rather refined but still casual restaurant serving burgers, sandwiches, and salads by day, and more of a steakhouse-style menu by night (the tempura Brussels spouts and salmon were perfect when I was there). Chuck’s is a Kerry Simon restaurant (which you’ll know, immediately, by his wall-sized mug near the kitchen), a chef who was putting a twist on comfort food in Las Vegas, of all places, long before everyone else was doing it. I lived there at the time and have enjoyed watching his career really take off and infiltrate other cities. The restaurant also serves breakfast.
