If it sounds like the perfect spot for dessert, that’s because the owner, Mindy Segal, cut her culinary teeth as a pastry chef. Her sweets, particularly the hot chocolates—of which there are seven flavors, each served with house-made marshmallows—are the standout here, but comfort classics like the fried chicken sandwich, mac and cheese, and hamburger all hold their own. Although the name Hot Chocolate sounds like a cafe, there’s an undeniable lounge feel to the restaurant, which has a long list of beer, wine, and cocktails.
