I am absolutely in love with this Italian grocer, as is every guest I bring here for an afternoon. In addition to an incredible stockade of specialty foods imported from Italy (which include truffles in any form you can imagine), Eataly, located in River North, has a pasta-by-the-pound counter, butcher, baker, seafood, cheese, wine, beer, lotions, potions, and more, along with 10 eateries—including a Nutella/crepe station. The two-level Italian market/eatery extravaganza opened in late 2013, and was the second Eataly in the U.S. (Brag: Although it may not have opened first, the Chicago store trumps the city-block-sized New York Eataly by about 13,000 square feet.) It’s a great stop for stocking up on picnic items.
