Just a few minutes from Kasane International Airport, Chobe National Park's 35km (22 miles) of river frontage is conveniently close to the Zimbabwe and Zambia borders, making Victoria Falls day trips possible. As a result, it's a tourist-heavy area. With the exception of the superb Chobe Chilwero and Savute Elephant Park, reviewed below, we recommend that you opt for one of the lodges on private reserves in and around the greater Chobe region, particularly on the rivers in the Linyanti, a safari area to the north of Okavango, or Kwando Reserves. The Linyanti riverfront is similar to that of the Chobe, with open floodplains and riverine forest. Many rate it as high or higher than the Delta: A massive 500,000 hectare area, Linyanti comprises only three private concessions with a combined limit of 100 guests at a time, making for a genuine wilderness experience with less tourist traffic.
