Cristo de la Concordia
This steel-and-cement sculpture is believed to be the largest statue of Christ in the world. Because Christ died when he was 33 years old, it measures 33m (108 ft.). I recommend riding the cable car to the top, but if you're feeling energetic, you can climb the 2,000 litter-strewn steps. However you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with lovely views of the area. Christ faces the lower valley area of Cochabamba. From here, you can see Tunari -- at 4,800m (15,744 ft.), these are the highest twin peaks in the area. The Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro is the model for Cristo de la Concordia, but the locals like to think that this one is more loving -- the face has more human features and, unlike its counterpart in Rio, its hands seem to be in a welcoming embrace. There is an outdoor Mass here every Sunday morning. Set aside at least 2 hours for your visit, and do not go late at night.
