A delightful escape on a hot summer day, this 1,600-acre park includes North Cheyenne Creek, which drops 1,800 feet over the course of 5 miles in a series of cascades and waterfalls. The heavily wooded park contains picnic areas and about 15 miles of hiking/biking/horseback riding trails. The visitor center at the foot of scenic Helen Hunt Falls has exhibits on history, geology, flora, and fauna. The Starsmore Discovery Center at the entrance to the park holds maps, information, and interactive exhibits for both kids and adults, including audiovisual programs and a climbing wall where you can learn about rock climbing. The park also has excellent rock-climbing areas for experienced climbers.
