This is the best mining museum in Colorado outside of Leadville. There are thousands of artifacts on the 27-acre campus, ranging from antique hand tools to a monstrous 1928 steam shovel to Nugget, and Chism the donkeys who serve as mascots for the museum. Special exhibits have recently included a look at Cripple Creek mining baron W.S. Stratton. Allow 1 hour.
